She is also the only Plastic Surgeon in the region who did a cosmetic and breast plastic fellowship. Dr. Scanland has dedicated her practice to cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and body.

In addition, we have a surgery scheduling visit where you receive your pre and post operative instruction sheets, prescriptions, garments, anti-swelling and anti-bruising medications. Dr. Jeanne A. Scanland, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga is the daughter of the late Boyd Scanland and the late attorney Opal Scanland. Dr. Scanland graduated from the Girls Preparatory School, Chattanooga, TN. With a passion for art, she graduated from the University of Tennessee, Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Chemistry. While in college, she was a member of the Blue Key Honor Society, Mortar Board Honor Society, Beta Beta Beta and Gamma Sigma Epsilon. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Pi National Sorority, a Sigma Chi Little Sister and Orientation Board. She received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dr. Scanland completed a six year residency in General Surgery and a two year residency in Plastic Surgery at the UT College of Medicine at Erlanger Hospital. Dr. Scanland is a pioneer and was the first female in the General Surgery Residency at UT College of Medicine at Erlanger Hospital. She completed her written and oral Boards in General Surgery and also Plastic Surgery. Dr. Scanland then completed rotational fellowships in Breast Reconstruction and Cosmetic Surgery on the face, breast and body at Emory University and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta,Ga; Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN and the University of Alabama, Birmingham, AL. During her residency , she received the Baroness Award for Teaching Excellence in 1986. She also received the Robert C. Coddington Scientific Paper Presentation/Resident Research day awards in 1988 for second place and in 1990 for first place.
Dr. Scanland began private practice in 1991 and founded The Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery,PC in 1993. She has surgical privileges at all local hospitals and outpatient facilities. She is actively on faculty as a Clinical Adjunct Professor at Lincoln Memorial Hospital University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine at Harrogate, Tennessee 2010- Present and Past Clinical Assistant Professor at department of Plastic Surgery at UT College of Medicine at Chattanooga, TN (1996-2001).
